Salzburg, Austria

Today we spent time exploring Salzburg, starting with the cathedral. We especially spent some time touring the cathedral.

We don’t know if they had some type of festival going on as there were various stands set up in the open area near the cathedral and the former city halls, but it appears very few vehicles are allowed in this area and people are walking about. The area at the end of the street is up against a cliff. A castle is located up on the top. What appears to be a slide is actually a lift that is or was used to take supplies up to the castle.

As it was in Germany, many of the restaurants have outdoor eating areas. Most of the meals we have eaten on this trip have been outdoors, except for breakfast.

Although we had hoped to get up and see the castle, it did not happen. It stands over the city.

The place we were are staying has very short doorways. Both Cory and I have manage to bang our heads against the top of the door frame. A very painful reminder to duck. Nothing very fancy, but it works for just two days. Here are pictures.

Tomorrow is Berchtesgaden.
