Going Our Separate Ways

Friday, June 21, 2019

Today was the day that we all headed back to Paris by train for each couple to head their own way.  Bryan and Karen headed to Germany to visit Cory and Steph, Bruce and Jackie planned on spending extra time in Paris, and Terry and I spent the night in Paris preparing to fly home tomorrow. All went very well except for making our connections in Paris. We had heard that using the train system in Europe is easy and that is true when you are not in a large train station. Paris however is another case. There are five train stations and transferring from one to another is one challenge and then getting to your next train in time is another. And then you throw in a foreign language and then you have another challenge! But we all got to where we needed to so that was great. One of the train stations had wallpaper showing the Bayeux Tapestry that I mentioned before so here is what that looks like.

It was a beautiful place however they required you to join their program for $25 in order to get free WiFi! I think you can go to Motel 6 in the states and get free WiFi so that was a disappointment.

This has been an amazing week for us. We met many people who expressed their sincere appreciation for what our father and thousands of others did to bring freedom to their country. We have been where our father served, we have stood on Omaha Beach, we have met a veteran who also served with the 101st, and so we feel we have been able to experience a part of our father’s history and for that we are very grateful.
