Normandy

Words cannot describe what we experienced today! The magnitude of the Normandy Invasion is indescribable!

Our first stop was Arranches where the saw the Mulberry Harbour! Seeing the structures in the ocean still in place 75 years was quite the site.

We then traveled on to the American Cemetery at Omaha Beach where over 9000 American soldiers are buried. Terry brought his army uniform along specifically to wear it on this day. What a somber place.

And then we walked on the sands of Omaha Beach where thousands of men died so others could be free.

These are German gun batteries that we stopped to see on the way to Omaha Beach.

Our last stop was at Point-du-Hoc where the Army Rangers scaled the cliffs.

I struggle to find the words to end this post but they are not there other than to say how proud I am that my father was part of bringing freedom to these people and how blessed he was to make it back home.

And I leave you with a picture of our street outside of our hotel.
