On The Move

We were up and on the road early today in order to catch our train! Here was the view out of our hotel window this morning! Note the 101st Screamin’ Eagle!

BDDAAFCE-5F4F-43B1-A2A3-42ABAEFE9AFFWe drove from Bastogne to Liège, turned in the car rental, and got on the train to travel to Paris. Well the train was 41 minutes late pulling into Liège so we were concerned about connecting with our next train out of Paris. To add a little stress to that, we needed to transfer from the station at Paris Nord to the train station at Paris St. Lazare. We stepped off the train at Paris Nord with a lost look on our face. A French gentleman approached us and struck up a conversation with us with some limited English. He basically said “Follow Me” and we did. Not sure how we would have made our connection without his guidance! We made it on time thanking him profusely! I would have loved to get pictures of the beautiful train station in Paris but there simply was not enough time. Here is the train station in Liège.

Our next leg of the trip was a train ride from Paris to Caen. These were high speed trains and so we saw a lot of countryside in a short period of time! Anyway some of us did!

So we arrived in Caen and picked up our rental…a van! This is a great improvement from our previous rental where we had two cars for the six of us. It was like a cat and mouse game trying to keep us together.

We had a relatively short drive to Bayeux where we will know spend our last two days together. We had a lovely dinner again and then walked to see the Cathedrale of Notre Dame de Bayeux built in the 11th Century. The tree shown is 220 years old! 1E63E87E-8CB2-4141-88E1-0035AC7CECF9

We are on to the Beaches of Normandy for the next two days!
