Bruce and Jackie and Bryan and Karen met us at our gate since they had already arrived. We picked up our car rentals and we were off.
Our first stop was at the Hartenstein Museum in Oosterbeek. This museum is dedicated to the Airborne Divisions that were part of Operation Market Garden which was the beginning of liberating The Netherlands. The case of badges shows the black badge with the white eagle head of the 101st Airborne Division of which our father was a member of. Also above is a picture of a Waco glider, the type that our father flew in.
We continued on to check into our hotel in Arnhem. This evening we went down to the Frost Bridge which originally was held by the British troops before being forced to give it up to the Germans. This is the bridge as in A Bridge Too Far. We ended our long two continuous days with dinner at an Italian restaurant. Time for a well needed good night’s sleep
